The study of relationship between family performance and psychological hardiness in parents with disabled Kids and normal kids

Abstract


The present study aimed to explore the relationship between family performance and psychological hardiness in parents with disabled Kids and normal kids. The study has been descriptive-cross sectional and survey in type. About 116 examinees consist of 68 parents with normal kids and 48 parents with disabled Kids (42 men and 74 women) were selected by descriptive-classifying sampling method in schools located in area 1 of Kerman. Family assessment scale (FAD) was used to measure family performance and survey of personal views scale was applied to measure psychological hardiness.  Results showed that there is significant relationship between family performance and psychological hardiness in parents with normal kids (p<0/0001). Although it was not significant in parents with disabled Kids, the parents with disabled kids reported much family performance and psychological hardiness compared to the parents with normal kids. But the difference have not been significant in psychological hardiness variable (p<0/005). Also, there was no significant relationship between family performance and psychological hardiness in the two groups of parents.
