Providing a Comprehensive Model for Technological Innovation Typology

Abstract


Today, rapid technological changes with markets extension and frequent rise of new local and international competitors do not left safe margin for any business and jeopardize companies' positions in all industries. In such a condition, innovation is one of the main solutions for response to environmental changes and it can save companies. Nonetheless, literature review shows that an innovation is a concept with many different definitions and there is no comprehensive definition for it. The present paper is a comprehensive study about typology of technological innovation. Using systematic literature review, the data collection method is using internet and library resources and descriptive methodology. This study tries to offer a widespread typology of technological innovation with examination existing models and compilation prior researches. The study, also explain about seven other prior technologic innovation typology that provided by other scholars since 1967 until now.  Based on literature review and research findings, an innovation eventually leads to a change. The presented model of study is based on the change that innovation makes. The proposed model also considers intensity of change, the target of change, change focus and continuity of change. Finally the model provides a comprehensive framework for typology of technological innovation. This framework allows administrators to choose one of the innovation types depending on condition and taking into account the objectives, resources and capabilities of their organization toward a more value creation organization
