The Comparison of the Psychopathological Dimensions of Personality of Addicted People to Crystal with Normal People in Tehran

Abstract


Addiction has always been in the center of attention and different societies have tried to solve it in different ways. Today the problem of drug dependence and drug abuse have crossed the borders of health and become a social-therapeutic problem. Abuse of drugs in recent years is a problem that concerns all the societies. So in this study, we attempt to compare the psychopathological dimensions of personality of addicted people to crystal with normal people for controlling and preventing this problem. For this purpose, a total of 179 people addicted to Crystal in welfare organization and addiction treatment centers in Tehran, aged 20 to 30 years old was chosen based on purposive sampling method and Dimensional Assessment Of Personality Pathology Questionnaire was used for all of this society samples and existing sample were matched with 161 of normal people in the community. For data analysis in software SPSS, the two independent group t-test was used and all 18 main characters exist in DAPP-BQ were studied. Research findings indicated that factors such as emotional instability, anxiety orientation, apathy, cognitive dissonance, coercive, conduct problems, problems of identity, insecure attachment, intimacy problems, poor linked orientation, narcissism, disobedience, isolation, limited emotional expression, self-injury, stimulating, domination, and mistrust in addicted people to crystal were higher than the average value in non-addicts’ people. Therefore, it can be said that according to this study, people addicted to crystal get higher scores than non-addicted people in all the 18 factors of DAPP-BQ and largely were affected by this psychopathological dimensions. Also, it was shown that using DAPP-BQ is a good way to recognize the personality of addicted people to crystal.
