Strategies for attracting and use of expertise and skills of parents to improve School resources
Abstract
The study aimed to "identify strategies to attract and use the expertise and skills of parents in school for training, educational, technical, construction, and health and extracurricular of Iran. The descriptive method of survey kind was used. The statistical population consisted of parents who are parent-teacher association members and specialized working groups in schools and non-members, school principals and experts, officials and pundits of parent-teacher field over the country. The sample included Tehran, Mazandaran, and Bushehr. The three provinces were randomly selected from among the three groups from different provinces. The sampling was multistage cluster during which total 150 schools was selected (50 schools from each province, including 25 girls and 25 boys). The number of samples is a total of 1289 people that have participated in this study including 738 parents are members of specialized working groups and 311 non-members and 187 school principals and deputies, 28 officials and experts and 25 pundits. The research tools include two type questionnaires and an interview form that the validity and the reliability were calculated using the expertise’s comments and Cronbach's alpha, respectively. Based on the findings, all 16 strategies under question have been admitted by the member parents of specialized working groups and PTA to identify and use the expertise of parents. The non-member parents have agreed with 15 strategies but not just with the strategy of "creating subscription to receive the magazine of linkage by parents". School principals also agreed with 15 strategies but not just with "strategy of books and texts prepared especially for the parents to justify and encourage them to cooperate with the school". The officials and experts of the association from the 14 strategy under question agreed with 13 cases and like schools’ principals, they did not agree with a strategy to provide the specialized books and texts to justify and encourage them to cooperate with the school, the pundits pointed out the strategies on the need for being purposed, having a plan, a culture of participation and trying to build a culture of participation for the parents to help their schools.
