The press and social development (Case study: content analysis of two Iranian newspapers)

     Out concerns about the world is not related to what really happens, but are aroused by what the journalist and media tell us about what has occurred. This powerful influence with its noteworthy consequences is even more considerable for social processes. Therefore, the research purpose is to recognize the function of the press in Iran on its path toward the role of development specifically social development. The research employed the method of content analysis and this task was done using two newspapers with two different policies. According to the classified sampling, 48 editions of two newspapers were selected and analyzed according to the codifying guide. Based on the research findings, there is no significant relationship between content of these two newspapers. Moreover, there is no significant relationship between the two variables of these two newspapers and constructive proposals and also critics. Based on the results of the research, the most significant part of the content in terms of social development was related to the subject of literacy; however, the issue of migration had the lowest degree among the contents. Moreover, findings indicated that the frequency of the contents in which there exists constructive critics and proposals is less than the contents in which there exists critics. Overall, findings indicated that fulfilling the promises by the authorities and the formulated social plans for reducing the social pathologies has occurred in not very considerable degree.
