Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the relationship between leadership styles, self-awareness of managers and organizational health at the Department of Telecommunications In Mazandaran Province. The purpose of the present study is applied and its method is descriptive correlation. To collect data, three standard questionnaires were used; 1- four leadership styles (Likert) 2- self-awareness (Whetten and Cameron, 1991), 3- organizational health (Hui et al., 1996). The study population consisted of all employees and managers of the Department of Telecommunications of Mazandaran province, and sampling was done both for managers as census 35 people and for employees based on the Cochran formula 110 people; totally 145 people were chosen. The software SPSS 19 was used to analyze data in two descriptive and inferential statistics. Firstly the components related to the conceptual model using confirmatory factor analysis were examined and Spearman correlation test was used to investigate the hypotheses due to the lack of data distribution. The results suggested that self-awareness of managers and leadership styles: autocratic-imperiously r =- 0.368, charity-authoritative r = -0.35, advisory r = 0.30, participatory r = 0.302 and between leadership style and organizational health of staffs: autocratic--imperiously r = -0.40, charity-authoritative r =-380/0, advisory r = 0.22, participatory r =0.251 and significant correlation was P < 0.01. The results showed that consultative and participatory leadership style directly related to self-awareness of managers and organizational of employees, but autocratic-imperiously and charity leadership style is indirectly related.
