Coffeehouse painting, founder of iconography in today's concept

Abstract


Coffeehouse painting is one branch of Iranian painting and its history goes back to Qajar Era. This branch of painting was affected by Iranian painting and aesthetic specifications of the Qajar Era Painting has possessed a specific position in iconography in today's concept. Hence, the main movement in the field of the formation of iconography in Iran can be considered the effort of these painters. Choosing the Shiite religion as the formal religion of Iran in the Safavid Era and the promotion of religious literature and religious interest of people in religious content in the Qajar Era played an effective role in the field of considering iconography seriously in Iran.
