The comparison of the group cognitive-behavioral treatment’s effect and group cognitive therapy based on mindfulness on the fat people’s stress, anxiety, depression and weight loss

Abstract


The present research’s aims are to compare the group cognitive-behavioral treatment effect and group cognitive therapy based on mindfulness on the fat people’s stress, anxiety, depression and weight loss. For this purpose, 24 numbers of the fat women which have been simultaneously suffered from three disorders which are simultaneous with fatness including stress, anxiety and depression and those who had accepted the researcher’s call for treatment, have been selected and they were randomly placed in two groups including experimental cognitive-behavioral group and cognitive therapy group based on mindfulness and one witness group. Then, cognitive-behavioral group and cognitive therapy group are based on mindfulness were under 8 two-hour group session (each group for two months). The members of witness group received no treatment. All three groups were tested at the beginning and the end of the sessions and the results were computed by the software SPSS and Covariance analysis statistical method. The applied methods in this research included: Body mass indicator, clinical interview and DASS test. The results: Both applied therapy methods have been effective in the reduction of scores of participants’ stress, anxiety, depression and weight and they were led to these variables’ values decrease.
